Help shape a safer, more welcoming entrance, waiting area and sacred space at Dandenong Hospital
Monash Health is planning a minor uplift of Dandenong Hospital’s reception, the main waiting area and the sacred space. The project will refresh key public spaces and improve comfort, safety, accessibility and the overall experience for patients, families, carers, visitors, staff and volunteers.
Draft concept plans have been developed before more detailed design work begins. The improvement works are scheduled for early 2027. We are now seeking feedback on the elements where community and staff input can make the greatest difference, including how the spaces feel, function and support people during their time at hospital.
Some parts of the project are already set, including the available budget, and safety requirements for furniture. Your feedback will help guide the look, feel and practical set-up of the areas that are still being shaped.
What improvements are being planned?
- New flooring and a paint refresh across the front entry, reception, waiting area and corridor to the sacred space
- Acoustic panels on the ceiling and selected walls to help improve comfort and reduce noise
- Artwork and a refreshed welcome wall, with input sought on how it should be presented in the waiting area or front foyer
- A refreshed reception desk, permanent desk for volunteers and wheelchair storage
- New weighted furniture designed with safety, comfort and accessibility in mind
- A more open sacred space with refreshed flooring, paint and furniture
